- Check the karat stamp on your jewelry — usually engraved as 24K, 22K, 21K, or 18K (or 750, 916, 875, 999 in millesimal fineness).

- The result is the melt value — what the pure gold content is worth at today's live price.
Note: Dealers typically offer 70–90% of melt value to cover refining costs and profit margin. The higher the offer, the better the deal.
